Kansas statute (K.S.A. 21-6824) requires participation in a certified substance use disorder (SUD) treatment program for a target population of non-violent adult offenders who have been convicted of drug possession (K.S.A. 21-5706). The same statute also allows for participation in a certified SUD treatment program for a defined target population of non-violent adult offenders who have been convicted of drug possession, cultivation, or distribution (K.S.A. 21-5705 or K.S.A. 21-5706 drug offenses) and other specified nondrug, nonperson felony offenses.
