Kansas Criminal Justice Reform Commission Sentencing/Proportionality Survey Results

Oct 01, 2020

The Kansas Criminal Justice Reform Commission is charged with exploring reform efforts in the Kansas criminal justice system and making recommendations to the legislature. One of the areas of discussion is sentencing. As a result, the Sentencing/Proportionality subcommittee has been established. The subcommittee is currently reviewing the proportionality of sentencing for crimes on the drug and nondrug grids. To receive stakeholder input, the following short survey was sent in September 2020 to judges, prosecutors, BIDS attorneys, private defense counsel, and law enforcement, to narrow the current issues being considered. The Sentencing Commission staff assisted in the administration of the survey.
